HO Berwind Mining and New River Coal Hopper Decals

$9.00

This set was produced to introduce an more comprehensive set for these classes.

The history of the Berwind Mining Company and it's West Virginia Subsidiary, the New River & Pocahontas Consolidated Coal Company can be found in the Keystone article referenced below. These cars lasted into the Penn Central Merger era and a few even into early Conrail.

This sheet has enough data to do 14 cars, 4 GL, 6 GLa, and 2 BW-1. There are three different reweigh/repack codes to cover locations these hoppers were typically found on the coal region of central Pennsylvania. Also multiple re-weigh dates ranging from the mid-1930’s through to the mid 1960’s.

The GL Class has been produced by Westerfield in resin, however F&C's GLca can also be used as a legitimate stand-in model representing the fishbelly-side car. The GLa class of hoppers has been produced in plastic by Bowser. The BW-1 class of hoppers was produced in resin by F&C. The GL has also been done in brass by Railworks.
