HO B&O Scale Car Decals (1920-1960+)

HO B&O Scale Car Decals (1920-1960+)

This set was produced to introduce a more comprehensive set for these classes, which hadn't been done by previous manufacturers.

The B&O’s Scale Test Car fleet was created starting in 1919 with the acquisition of 8 scale test cars of varying weight limits. In 1920 the fleet was renumbered into the X49XX series with additional cars purchased in 1937, 1945 and 1956. The more easily modeled 40,000 pound and 80,000 are included in this decal sheet. Available data on the Scale Car roster was only available up to 1960, so the cars that survived beyond 1960 are best verified by photographs.

The scale test car is available in brass, a limited run cast metal kit from Stewart Products, or in plastic from Walthers.
This sheet includes enough decals to decal two cars, with one each in the different schemes. There is also prefix numbers included for doing creating your own car number in either of the two variations. Lettering was minimal and varied little. However, see photos for proper placement.
For painting of the scale test cars, the body and journals are to be painted black, the steps, grabs and railings are painted yellow and the coupler was painted Devils Red.
