HO PRR G32, G32A, G32B, G32C Gondola Decals Penn Central (1968+)

The G32 class of gondolas was built from April 1949 to October 1950 as a throw-back to an earlier era of smaller gondolas, having an interior length of 46 feet. In addition to this initial batch of 600 cars 1500 additional cars were built as class G32A from April to June 1953, resulting in a total of 2100 cars of this size on the roster. At the Sam Rea Shops in Hollidaysburg starting in summer 1966 600 cars from classes G32 and G32A were rebuilt with Stanray corrugated sides, assigned class G32B. In late summer 1966 an additional 100 cars were rebuilt by Sam Rea Shops with vertically corrugated sides resembling ribs, assigned class G32C. Nearly all these cars lasted beyond 1968 into Penn Central. By the early 1970’s only the G32A/B/C remained on the active roster with all of the original G32 having been either mistakenly reclassed as G32A or scrapped altogether.

This sheet includes enough data for 1 car. The data setup on a per-panel basis with the pre-fix number of 54 included, note the end numbers have 3-digit prefix numbers of 543 and 544. Dependent on the type of side the car had, the data was arranged differently. Please note the diagrams and use photos for specific cars. Besides the Scale code for Sam Rea Shop’s (P62), scale codes are included for Altoona, PA (P57) and Conway, PA(P341). Enough numbers have been included for you to create your own within the number ranges. Also, you will need to apply your own extra panel for adding the lube stencil to the side of the car, please consult photos for correct placement. For those wishing to apply ACI Bar Code Plates, we recommend using the Microscale Products Minical MC-4280.

The G32A/B/C have been produced as a 3D printed kit by Plate C Model Prototypes sold by 3D Central Trains.

For painting instructions any of this gondolas in the Penn Central Scheme 1968+), the carbody is to be painted in PC Green, trucks are black.
